영국 BBC 선정 21세기 최고의 영화 100편

고등학교 때에 국내외 영화잡지를 보며 평론가들이 꼽는 명작을 아쉬워하곤 했죠. 국내 심의가 워낙 황당했던 때라 걸작 중 대부분은 미군부대 근처에서나 가능했습니다.

시위에서 부르는 대중가요는 전부 금지곡이 되었고 한대수씨의 물좀 주오는 물고문을 연상한다고, 김추자씨의 거짓말이야는 불신을 조장한다고, 양희은씨의 이루어질 수 없는 사랑은 허무주의라고 금지곡 낙인을 찍었습니다. 

그러니 핑크 플로이드의 걸작 The Wall은 영화는 물론이고 LP 판매조차 안되었죠. 영화잡지를 보며 그렇게 갈망하던 The Wall을 총학생회 개표로 밤새우던 날에 카페의 작은 흑백 TV로 처음 봤죠. 

이제는 약간의 돈과 수고만 하면 원하는 영화를 어렵지 않게 볼 수 있습니다. 그런데 열정이 그 때만 못해서 그런지 BBC가 선정한 21세기 최고의 영화 1위인 멀홀랜드 드라이브도 안보고 있습니다.

그래도 리스트 중에 꽤 많은 명작을 봤군요. 여러분도 재미삼아 한 번 세어보시기 바랍니다. 

아! 우리나라 영화로는 박찬욱씨의 올드보이와 김기덕씨의 봄 여름 가을 그리고 겨울이 선정되었습니다. 

요즘 김기덕씨 작품을 아는 분은 꽤 놀랄만한 명작 중의 명작입니다.
